Trails for All is pleased to announce the introduction of the Peterik Fund Trails for All Compass Award. This award is being offered to the new generation of Custer County residents who are planning their transition to the next phase of their lives, whether it be college studies, trade school, entrepreneurship, or some other venture that will lead them to their life goals. This cash award will be a minimum of $1,500 and may be awarded to more than one recipient each year at the discretion of the Advisory Committee of Trails for All.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: April 10, 2026
AWARD RECIPIENT(S) ANNOUNCED: On or before May 1, 2026
As this is not a traditional “scholarship” program, the Advisory Committee managing this program will review applicants relative to not-so-traditional criteria. We understand that college is not for everyone, so the Peterik Fund Trails for All Compass Award welcomes applicants considering other skill-based programs (apprenticeships, tech school, skill enhancement certificates) or even small business ideas. Some of the criteria that the Advisory Committee will look at may include but is not limited to:
• Community Involvement with non-profits, church groups, or other community support organizations
• Demonstrated Leadership and/or teamwork skills
• Communication Skills
• Academic Performance
The process involved with pursuing the Peterik Fund Trails for All Compass Award will include submitting an online application and if selected as a finalist, participating in an interview (in person or online) with the Advisory Committee. Once all interviews are conducted, the Advisory Committee will announce the award recipient(s) on or before May 1, 2026.
The Peterik Fund Trails for All Compass Award is being sponsored by Trails for All and Herb and Angie Kober in honor of their sons Peter and Erik Kober. Peter and Erik were both lovers of the great outdoors who left this world far too soon. It is the hope of Angie and Herb that the Peterik Fund Trails for All Compass Award will help some young people of Custer County see and travel their path to the future.
DONATE TO THE PETERIK FUND: If you’d like to contribute please send your check to: Trails for All Attn: Peterik Fund PO Box 386 Westcliffe CO 81252.
