Lions Canyon Trail Maintenance Day
Saturday, June 1 was a beautiful day for a hike on Lion's Canyon Trail. We had a GREAT crew of volunteers ready to clear several deadfalls and to give the trail a good "daylighting" (clearing encroaching brush and overhanging branches). However, someone beat us to the deadfalls leaving mostly light daylighting. Most volunteers had never been to Lion's Canyon before so it was a solid introduction to that part of San Isabel National Forest. The temperature was perfect and everyone was well-prepared. The meadow on top of Locke Mountain provided stunning panoramic views of the Sangres. The descent was leisurely and everyone enjoyed talking amongst themselves. THANK YOU, volunteers!
